Starting Salary:   Within the Grade 5 salary range and commensurate with education & experience (eligible for overtime)
 
Project Duration:   The duration of this project will be 12/15/2008 to 03/31/2012
 
Project Summary:  The purpose of AED's capacity building and technical assistance role to the Presidents Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) funded New Partners Initiative (NPI) is to provide technical and administrative support to AED staff and NPI Grantees in implementing HIV/AIDS programs. The program includes provision of ongoing capacity building in organizational development and HIV prevention, care and support, and implementation of effective monitoring, evaluation and reporting (MER) systems to assess and document activities.
 
Position Summary:  Under the supervision of the NPI Deputy Director, the Program Associate will be responsible for the backstopping the USAID funded New Partners Initiative Project (NPI), knowledge management for projects in the center, and supporting new business development as well as center-wide initiatives. The Program Associate will provide operational support to all project staff (based at HQ and in the field), will collaborate with technical teams to fulfill administrative programmatic needs and will be asked to assist in streamlining of the NPI files, processes, and procedures.
 
Essential Job Functions:   - Process fee payments, check requests, wire transfers and other forms of payment for consultants and subcontractors;
- Provide operational support for field offices and field staff regarding benefits, HR, finances, IT, etc;
- Liaise with Finance, Contracts, Payroll and other departments to support project operations;
- Assist with project reporting including research and writing, editing and formatting, and tracking of project deliverables;
- Assist with development and production of communications materials;
- Correspond with subcontractors and partners as necessary;
- Work closely with the Deputy Program Director to streamline NPI training processes, information collected, and upload into the website;
- Assist with the planning, logistics and execution of capacity building trainings worldwide;
General Center Support
- Support new business development through identification and response to requests for proposals and other funding opportunities;
- Work with COACH Staff to streamline processes related to projects, staff, consultants etc;
- Work with administrative staff to advance COACH-wide projects and initiatives.

Education:   Bachelors in one of the following or related fields: International Development, International Health, Public Health and Other Job-related Field required.
 
Experience:   3 year(s) of relevant experience required

Specific Knowledge Requirements:
Minimum 3 years relevant experience with International Public Health Projects;

At least 1 year of general office administration experience;

Experience planning large conferences and trainings preferred.

 
Special Requirements:   This job will require a criminal background check.
 
Skills:   Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail required;

Ability to coordinate and handle multiple priorities and input, and delegate appropriately to staff;

Demonstrated ability to take initiative on minor, as well as more complex tasks;

Demonstrated verbal and written business communication skills;

Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with Center, administrative staff, project staff, other Academy staff, clients, consultants, non-project participants, vendors and others as necessary to fulfill responsibilities;

Demonstrated expertise required in the use of the World Wide Web, and Word software required; experience using PowerPoint, Excel and web-browsing software preferred.
